EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

EPBD
EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive
European Community research has indicated that 40% of total energy use is concerned with buildings and by improving energy efficiency carbon emissions from buildings could be reduced by 22%. The EPBD aims to promote the energy performance of buildings and building units.
EPBD came into force in the UK in January 2006 and underwent a recast (revision) in 2010.
EPBD requires:
• A methodology to calculate integrated energy performance of buildings
• All new buildings to meet minimum energy requirements
• Energy certification of buildings
• Regular inspection of boilers and air conditioning systems
