Awnings and Freezing Weather
Last year the cold weather caught many of us out and we had a number of call where customers had incurred damage to their awnings by leaving them out in the snow. Strong as a Deans sun awning is - it is not designed to work in snowy conditions or where there is a danger the mechansim might freeze. So follow these useful hints :
- Don't use your awning if you think some parts of the mechanism are frozen.
- If the forecast is for snow make sure your awning is closed.
- If it is wet and you anticipate the weather might turn very cold retract the awning before ice can form, at the first opportunity open the awning to allow it to dry.
- If you have left the awning out and it has become frozen it may be possible to free up the mechanism with a hair dryer but, if in doubt, call us for assistance.
