Markilux Pergola 200 at Larmenier Sacred Heart School

Deans installed a number of sun awnings at this well known Hammersmith school and more recently the school asked us to install some more robust units which could also shelter pupils and parent from the rain. The new Markilux Pergola 200, launched last year proved to be the ideal solultion with it’s patented adjustable sloped roof which can be deployed in especially rainy conditions. Details of the product follow markilux pergola 200 • large sun protection for patios • using the proven technology of the markilux 8000 • with slender front posts, one front post is telescopic and adjustable in height Advantages: • Front post system made of steel - telescopic on one side - for effective water drainage from a minimum pitch of 7°. From a pitch of 14° sufficient water drainage is assured without lowering the front post. • Telescopic front post can be lowered by up to 30cm. This functions by means of a gas piston inside the post. The post can be brought back into its normal position by pushing in the button on the front post and pushing the rod underneath the track upwards. This needs to be done before the awning is retracted. • Easy fixture of the cassette to the wall and of the posts to a concrete base. The front post made of steel, can be continuously adjusted from approx. 220cm up to 250cm in height during installation. • Coupled units available up to 2 fields. • When retracted the cover is completely protected from the weather by the cassette, which encloses it completely. • High cover tension from two individually working gas pistons. • Being a further fixing point the front posts give the awning added stability over and above the fixture of the cassette to the wall, resulting in less torque being exerted on the façade. • Particularly large extension with high wind stability (wind resistance class 3) Design: • Elegant awning system on slender front posts with side guide tracks • The options to combine cassette colour, end cap trim and insert colour (as on the markilux 6000) makes it possible to personalise the markilux pergola and turn it into your own individualised patio awning.

New awnings for St Mary's Bryanston

St Mary’s Bryanston CofE Primary School has a long tradition of providing a good education and aims to provide a full curriculum to all children.

They have previously reduced classroom heat build up with the use of air conditioning. However, by preventing the sun from reaching the windows with awnings they were able to significantly reduce solar gain without increasing the consumption of energy and thereby also reducing the carbon footprint.

Working with the contractor, Marylebone Interiors, Deans’ Vice President system was specified together with Swela dralon awning fabrics using an automatic control system by Somfy to ensure a controlled environment for the pupils. A vibrabox sensor controls in the front profiles for retraction in windy conditions.

Deans installed the awnings on special brackets and the final result was a visually fun scheme of red, cream and green colours against the cream background of the school.

Mr Peter Hadfield, Head Teacher commented in the school News Letter “The awnings outside Year 1, 2 and 3 were installed over the Easter holiday and they shade the classroom windows perfectly”. He also acknowledged the part played by the Rose Foundation for their contribution to the costs, which made the project possible.
