Awnings and Freezing Weather

Last year the cold weather caught many of us out and we had a number of call where customers had incurred damage to their awnings by leaving them out in the snow. Strong as a Deans sun awning is - it is not designed to work in snowy conditions or where there is a danger the mechansim might freeze. So follow these useful hints :

  • Don't use your awning if you think some parts of the mechanism are frozen.

  • If the forecast is for snow make sure your awning is closed.

  • If it is wet and you anticipate the weather might turn very cold retract the awning before ice can form, at the first opportunity open the awning to allow it to dry.

  • If you have left the awning out and it has become frozen it may be possible to free up the mechanism with a hair dryer but, if in doubt, call us for assistance.

Jam Tree Kings Road new outside area

Over 42 square metres of space has been created for customers to enjoy an alfresco evening out. Deans Blinds and Awnings have installed two “back-to-back” electrically operated awnings incorporating a Markilux Spotline bar, housing a number of 20watt lights, creating the perfect atmosphere for diners. Increased sales of food and drinks has been a plus for this exciting new venue.

The Jam Tree is in Kings Road, London, SW6 and can now use their outside barbecue area during sunshine or rain, thanks to the Markilux Syncra awning recently installed by Deans Blinds and awnings
