Deans were asked by London architects Jan Hoch to supply a solution for a basement master bedroom suite in Central London, the overall design of the project was to be minimal and contemporary with emphasis on clean lines. The task was to supply and install a modern electric roof blind that would provide privacy and blackout qualities. The glass roof was 3m wide x 2m and they needed a blind without obtrusive cords or wires when the blind was opened, with the brief in mind Deans specified the SHY Zip roof blind system and as we were in during the building stage it was decided to hide the blind within the roof space keeping with our very particular brief. The client also asked for privacy from rooms above so it was decided that the blind would draw from the foot of the bed up towards the wall, this gives the clients privacy from overhead when required. The fabric chosen was Mermet Flocke in a beautiful bronze colour to make the blind a feature when closed and to tie in with the rest of the interior decor, we also added a further roller blind to the room in the same fabric. Overall the blind looks stunning working effortlessly from a remote control handset and fits within the brief given to us.

Electric & Motorised Blinds

Deans Blinds and Awnings have been supplying and installing top quality products in London for nearly 120 years, as well as the traditional handmade products that we still install for many shops and business' in and around London and the South East we are also installing the very latest electric and motorised internal blinds.
Deans have merged the old and the new, with technology and products. We may still hand make many of our awnings and we may also hand paint many logo's onto the fabrics but we now have state of the art printing machines, the results can look even better than hand painted with the level of detail. Alongside this we have the very latest computerised sewing machine, this huge machine means we can make even larger covers but with the skill and accuracy expected of a niche product.
Along with the rise in technology in many homes Deans are also leading the way in electric and motorised internal blinds, like all properties they go through phases where people use space differently. This has been noticed especially in family rooms, alot of Victorian and Georgian properties are being refurbished with the addition of large extensions to the rear of properties, these rooms generally incorporating kitchens, dining and living space within one area, to maximise light large expanses of glass are often used to create a light and airy space. Bifold doors or large patio doors can give a beautiful focal point, roof lanterns and skylights are also used to give you that 360 degree feel of light and space and creates a very contemporary feel mixing the old buildings with the latest interior design.
This can pose some difficult shading solutions, not only do you still want to keep privacy but you will also need to control the heat and the glare that large pieces of glass can attract, so at Deans we have developed some wonderful blinds that will not only complement the interior décor but offer real benefits in Solar control. We also install a range of blinds for roof lanterns and skylights again a difficult area to shade effectively but if you speak to Deans you can be sure that our 120 years of experience shines through.
We have three dedicated websites for internal blinds, click one of the links below for more helpful information or call 020-8947-8931

Deans Introduce bifold door blinds

In the recent past Bi-fold doors and large patio doors have been installed to many homes as part of refurbishment plans as well as in new buildings, these spacious glass walls not only add light and the open plan feeling but look fabulous working with a modern living space often with family rooms and breakfast areas.
When the building work is completed and you use the room that you may realise the difficulties of shading such large areas of glazing, since many of these styles of rooms are decorated in a contemporary way a solution is needed that not only works but also looks like it should be there.
Here at Deans we have a tremendous range of screening fabrics which will reduce solar gain and glare which are the main problems that are encountered, however, the real benefit of this fabric is that you will not lose your aspect or light. It can be disappointing to of put so much effort into creating a pleasant light open space but then to only discover the area is unusable. A wide selection of widths means we can make very large blinds with NO joins. This is essential to  in keep a clean minimal neat finish that goes with the rest of the design.
When should you  contact us? This should be done  as soon as possible especially if you have building work about to start , we will liaise with builders, architects and electricians explain what wiring is required and where it needs installing this will ensure a nice neat finish at the end of your project. view our bifold doors web site or call on 020-8947-8931
